Born in 1980, graphic designer, academic. Completed his BA degree at Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Graphic Design, and his Master's and Proficiency in Art programs at Yaşar University Graduate Education Institute. He has been teaching Typography, Printmaking and Design History at Yaşar University since 2010 and carrying out interdisciplinary design projects. Also a GMK member, Yıldız continues his work and research in Izmir on the axis of art and design disciplines as a designer, academic and cultural manager.
Born in 1977 in Ankara. He graduated from Istanbul Kabatas Erkek High School in 1994 and from Dokuz Eylul University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Graphic Department in 1999. He worked in various advertising agencies in Izmir during his student years and in Istanbul after graduation. He started working as a Research Assistant at Dokuz Eylul University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Graphic Department in 2002. He made studies on graphic design abroad and participated in various events. He completed the Proficiency in Art program in 2008. He worked as an author and editor in Graphic Design magazine between 2006-2009. He earned the title of Associate Professor in 2016. Carried out administrative duties such as vice dean and member of the board of directors. He continues his design studies and academic research in the fields of corporate identity design, exhibition design, wayfinding and signage design. He is married with two children.
Burçin Akoğlu received her bachelor’s degree in architecture from Dokuz Eylül University in 2000. She obtained her master’s degree in architecture from Izmir University of Economics in 2020, with a thesis entitled “The Deconstruction of Identity in Daniel Libeskind’s Architecture”. She's currently pursuing her doctoral studies at the Department of Architecture, İzmir Institute of Technology, where her research focuses on the intersection of culture, commodification, and architecture in the global era.
Between 1997 and 2010, she worked as an architect in leading companies within the architectural field. Since 2010, she has held the position of founding partner at Akoğlu Architecture company. She currently continues her work both for Akoğlu Architecture company and as a lecturer. Presently, she teaches courses on Spatial Representations, Materials and Methods of Construction, Professional Practices for Interiors, and Digital Design Techniques as a part-time staff member at Yaşar University.
After completing her undergraduate education in the Department of Industrial Design of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, she completed her Master's education in the Design Studies Program of the İzmir University of Economics. She has been continuing her doctoral education at the Middle East Technical University Institute of Science, Industrial Product Design Program since 2018. Between 2017-2022 she worked at Yaşar University, Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Industrial Design and since 2022 she continued her work as a research assistant at the Faculty of Communication Department of Visual Communication Design.
In 2008, she worked as a student assistant during her undergraduate education at the Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and graduated with the first degree. She won patent rights for his graduation project, a movable modular housing unit that will serve as a post-disaster shelter.
After graduation, she started the Design Studies Master's Program at Izmir University of Economics and worked as a Research Assistant for about three years. Later, in 2011, she started the Bilkent University Interior Architecture and Environmental Design PhD program by winning a scholarship and completed the program in 2018. After starting to work as a part-time lecturer at the Yaşar University Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design in 2016, he was promoted to Doctor Lecturer for the next 8 years.
After master's and doctoral studies, her professional field of work is based on socio-spatial dynamics between space, design, culture, and identity in displacement/relocation contexts with marginalized minority groups such as women, immigrants, and the urban poor. He is currently conducting research on architectural history and theory related to social space, migration, collective memory, and gender studies in Izmir.
